Happy New Year!  We hope that this year you are committed to practicing!  This month we will be choosing one of our students who completes the practice challenge to win a free LMS t-shirt!  To participate, simply color one firework every time you practice, and turn in your completed picture at the end of the month! Everyone who completes the practice challenge will receive a Spirit Stick.  Spirit Sticks are collectable keychains that help commemorate your achievements!

January is a great time to establish or re-establish good practice routines.  Choose something that you do every day, and tag practicing to that.  For instance, brush your teeth in the morning, and then practice your instrument!  Or, you can set an alarm on your digital device to remind you to practice at a certain time.

In addition to getting your routine straight, it’s a great time to clean and organize your practice area.  File music that you are no longer using, and put your current music in an easy to access spot.  Be sure that your instrument is stored in a convenient spot, but also check to be sure that it is away from hot air vents and drafty windows.  Consider humidifying your instrument to help it stay in tune and to protect any wooden components. Having a clean space and a functional instrument certainly helps to motivate good practice habits!
