Villains Musical Theater Camp is a week-long exploration into the world of theater. Students will be creating their own villain character, costume, set piece, and script. Using well-known villainous songs, campers will create and perform a 25-35 minute show! During the week, we will be learning important vocal and drama techniques to be used onstage. Campers can choose to do the morning program or the extended program which runs until 2:00. Students who stay until 2:00 will pack a lunch and have more rehearsal time in the afternoon. Parents are invited to join us for the performance on Friday at 2:00!

Songwriter’s Workshop teaches students the basics of songwriting, including song form and vocabulary. We will establish songwriting as a creative outlet to explore and process emotions, capture experiences, share stories, and express individuality. Students who participated in last year’s composition camp are encouraged to join us again. We chose a curriculum that touches on topics that we did not get to last year such as lyric writing, musical form, and chord structure. Camp based on the Songwriting 101: An Introduction to Words & Music curriculum from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Nashville.
Boom! Teen and Tween Boomwhackers Ensemble will use pitched musical tube that students hit to create music. Students will use Boomwhackers to create harmony, construct chords, compose ostinatos as a group, and work together as a team to perform pieces of music. Performance selections include The Lion Sleeps Tonight , Happy, One Thing, What Does the Fox Say, Apologize, Blister in the Son, Poker Face, Call Me Maybe, What Makes You Beautiful, and Mortal Combat/Axel F. This is a unique experience that you wouldn’t want to miss! Parents are invited to join us for the performance on Friday at 3:30. You’re a Star Voice Camp At Lewis Music Studio we strongly believe that everyone is a star! Join us for a week of singing and reaching for the stars! We will work on at least one whole group song, small group songs, and optional solos or duets. In addition to singing we will play musical games, spending time outdoors, and doing fun activities. The theme of the week is reaching for the stars and knowing that you are a STAR! Friday we will host a performance at 11:30 for families to watch our stars perform. The Colors of Music Camp gives students the chance to engage with a variety of music instruments through the use of color. Students will use color coded music notation to play on the piano, ukulele, handbells, deskbells, boomwhacker, and glockenspiel. This multi-sensory approach makes the camp especially accessible to students of any ability level. Discovery Piano Camp is for anyone who has no piano experience at all. Campers will have fun learning all the basics of piano through songs, games, and outdoor activities. Each camper will create their own, “My Piano Book” to take home, and we will learn a basic tune to perform at the end of the week. Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes Camp uses fairytales and nursery rhymes to engage students in age appropriate music learning! Students will have important social time with friends, sing songs, read stories, play games, and create crafts. Childhood rhymes are vital to musical development because they introduce the concept of beat. Camper’s imaginations will soar as they explore Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, Hickory Dickory Dock, Hansel and Gretel, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Gingerbread Man, I’m a Little Teapot, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and more! Art & Music Camp- Dive into the world of art and music! Water is a basic resource and a refreshing treat on a hot summer’s day. We will explore art and music within the theme of water. Campers will create line art, collage, pastels, and painted artwork, and they will learn about shades, tints, and tones. They will enjoy learning about and drawing inspiration from artists Paul Klee and Hokusai. Students will also enjoy learning about musicians who wrote music inspired by water such as Handel, Mendelsohn, Debussy, Strauss, and more. Music Olympics Camp is the camp for kids who love to move and play games! We will be practicing our rhythm, note reading, and keyboard skills through Olympic style games. Students who play any instrument will benefit from this camp, and students who have never played an instrument will learn as they go. No prior experience is necessary. After students begin the week by designing their team flag, they will participate in such games as musical alphabet noodle relay, water balloon keyboard toss, water rhythm relay, the flashcard splash game, and more! Discovery Glockenspiel Camp is for any student who loves music and would like to try mallet instruments! The glockenspiel is a tuned percussion instrument much like the xylophone. During our camp we will introduce basic rhythm and pitch using the glockenspiel and learn to play a piece of music for each new note that we learn! The Science of Sound at the Upper St. Clair Recreation Center will use hands-on experiments and activities to explore the science behind soundwaves and music. We will also explore how the deaf and hard of hearing communities listen to music, the structure of the ear, and how various instruments make sounds. The students in the class will design their own instrument and make a prototype and sketch of their instrument to present at the end of the week. Kaleidoscope Piano Camp is for intermediate and advanced students. Some of the goals for this camp will be to improve creativity and improvisation, practice playing in duet and ensemble settings, and to improve motivation for playing! Students will be working from a book by our key composer. In addition, students with similar abilities will be grouped together to learn ensemble and duet pieces. Students will begin (or continue) their Piano Journey Notebook, which is a scrapbook of their own personal piano journey. We will also work on theory, rhythm, ear training through age-appropriate games, individual piano coaching, and we will have some guest speakers as well! Finally, the week will culminate in a parent performance at the end of the week.

Adventure Piano Camp is for beginners who already have some experience under their belt. This camp will use fun, games, activities, and time at the keyboard to reinforce vocabulary, rhythm, and reading skills. In addition, campers will learn a piece of music to perform for family members at the end of the week with a small group of other students. This ensemble playing experience is vital for pianists who have very little opportunity to play with others. Parents can join us at the end of the week for a performance of what we learned this week!
Recorder is Awesome! at the Upper St. Clair Recreation Center is the camp for students who want to learn to play an instrument and who also love Legos! No experience is required, but more advanced music will be available for those students with some prior recorder experience. We will learn new notes and music symbols, play fun games, build with Legos, and of course play songs! Bring a snack, but everything else you need is included. Yes! You can sign up for as many or few weeks of summer camp as interest you and work for your schedule!
We provide two snacks each day. Campers attending a full day should pack a lunch or bring money. We will order from a local pizza shop.
Yes! For your convenience, our invoices will be sent out automatically at the end of each month, and you can just click the link to pay online! Summer camp is billed in one lump sum, but we can split the tuition up into monthly payments for your convenience!
You may change your camp selection anytime before May 1 without incurring an additional fee. Tuition is non-refundable, but credits on your account can be used towards any summer camp, class, or lesson. Lewis Music Studio does reserve the right to cancel a session if enrollment is too low, and in that case, tuition will be refunded in full.
Our Early Bird Discount of $25 per camp is available until March 31.
You may apply for financial aid through our Crescendo Kids Music Fund hosted by B.R.I.D.D.G.E. People. We are also looking for families to sponsor students in need of financial aid. B.R.I.D.D.G.E. People is a non-profit 501c3 organization, and sponsorships are fully tax deductible.
